Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange data between a website hosting server and a client. Since the info exchanged by the two sides is protected, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of controlling a web hosting account. The commands that can be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for example, the choices are limited because you'll not have root access to the hosting server, so you may simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. They are all actions that are carried out in the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or only a specific service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are tons of applications for other OSs, you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting

When you have a shared hosting account with our company and you want to manage your content remotely via SSH, you may obtain SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal doesn't offer this feature by default, you can easily add it with several mouse clicks via the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the CP, you will see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You can also choose what password you want to use, since it doesn't need to be the same as the one for the account. If the package deal that you've chosen comes with this function by default, you just need to enable the SSH access feature using the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the feature is listed as an optional upgrade, you can quickly add it using the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia Control Panel and it'll be available within a minute. If SSH is enabled, you shall also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload data safely via any FTP application which supports the function.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

All our VPS server plans feature SSH access as standard, so you shall not have to include any upgrades or activate anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login details, you will be able to connect through its primary IP address and the login credentials that you have chosen through the signup procedure. As the VPS accounts include full root-level access, there aren't any restrictions in terms of the commands which you can run. Your server will be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you'll be able to manage more or less everything through a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. This way, you are able to work with your files, databases and any apps that you install in a fast and secure way.
