The .SE country-code domain extension was set up in 1986 and delegated to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration process was pretty restrictive, so a very small number of domains were reserved. Individuals were permitted to register no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a must, i.e. merely Swedish individuals, businesses and organizations were able to order a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized a lot and, as a result, the number of dot SE domains has been rising each year.

At present, anybody can obtain a dot SE domain, which gives you the chance to contact the Swedish Internet community even if you do not have a local presence. We are amongst the service providers that offer such domains, because they cannot be acquired directly from the Registry organization. We can also assist you with the registration process because the Registry requires certain documentation such as an ID for persons or a registration certificate for business entities. The dot SE country-code TLD is also amongst the extensions that can be used for the so-called “domain hacks”, i.e. using a domain with a specific TLD to represent a word. A couple of examples would be “ofcour.se”, “endor.se”, etc., so you will have the opportunity to grab a creative and easy-to-remember domain name. Such a name will also be simple to share, which can increase the popularity of your site.
